Paracentesis is a very common procedures you will encounter on medicine and GI rotations. On this page, you will find resources to review prior to performing the procedure as well as the checklists for evaluation.
You will not need to add patient information to bedside ultrasound images unless saving them to the patient’s chart.
Make sure you have a good understanding of how to check for blood vessels, fluid depth, and how to identify structures NOT to hit.
Please have your supervisor complete the evaluation form and return to the chiefs’ office.
