VA Required Training

  1. VA Research, or Research involving Veterans

    1. The VA R&D Committee must approve all research at the VA.

    2. You should also schedule a meeting with the Associate Chief of Research at the VA to discuss your project.

    3. For research involving the VA Simulation Lab, the VA Simulation director must approve the project.

  2. Cincinnati VA’s CITI Training

    1. For human research - “Human Subjects Protection/Good Clinical Practices”

    2. For animal research - “Working with the VA IACUC,” and “Working with (specific animal) in Research Settings.”

**The Cincinnati VA’s CITI training is different than UC’s CITI training. If you are already in the CITI system, click on “Affiliate with Another Institution” and select “Cincinnati OH-539” from the Veterans Affairs drop down menu.  As you register, you will respond to questions that will determine what VA courses you will need to complete. The Cincinnati VA affiliation will be added to your Main Menu in CITI.

***If you have any questions, discuss with your mentor who should be contacted.  Your mentor is responsible for you obtaining the proper approvals.
